State Unemployment Rate Fell to 5.7% in April

The state's unemployment rate has not been this low since September 2008, the Department of Labor and Industry said.

Pennsylvania's unemployment rate fell to 5.7 percent in April, according to new figures released Friday.

That's the lowest the rate has been since September 2008, the Department of Labor and Industry said.

The March 2014 unemployment rate was 6.0 percent; the April 2013 rate 7.6 percent.

Pennsylvania's unemployment rate continues to be better than that of the nation as a whole, which in April was 6.3 percent.

Gov. Tom Corbett and the state's Republicans claimed the numbers as a win Friday.

“The people of Pennsylvania elected me to Harrisburg on my promise of less taxes and more jobs, and we continue to see that promise ringing true through another positive jobs report,” Corbett said.

Shame this is not accurately tracked, they consider a part time job at Wal-Mart as improvement, yet the person lost a $60k job 2 years ago and was forced to take something. I honestly think they lie about employment numbers

They changed unemployment ... If you make 25000 in a quarter of earnings , you must make half of that in the last 3/4 quarters or you are not eligible for unemployment... That is ridiculious. because if you work overtime to make more money in one quarter, youd be penalized by not recieving unemployment.. Tom Corbett helped change that ...Idiot!
