St. Barnabas Charities Auxiliary Installs Officers, Honors Volunteers

The 2012 officers for the St. Barnabas Charities Auxiliary were installed and top volunteers recognized during the organization's recent annual meeting at in Richland Township.

Ramona Henderson of Moon Township and Karen Shields of Gibsonia were installed as first vice president and treasurer, respectively, for two-year terms.

They join the previously installed officers: President Dianne Whetsell of Coraopolis, Second Vice President Joyce Kirkbride of Bakerstown, Corresponding Secretary Linda Dankmyer of Gibsonia, Recording Secretary Marti Taylor of Gibsonia and Community Outreach Coordinator Lou Ann White of Sewickley.

The auxiliary is a group of 139 volunteers dedicated to working at charitable events and raising funds for the St. Barnabas Free Care Fund. 

In 2011, the auxiliary raised $53,276 for the Free Care Fund, which supports poor and low-income patients at , Valencia Woods at St. Barnabas and . 

Among the many fundraising events were two golf tournaments; the ; a fashion gala, bake sales; a treasure sale; 50/50 raffles; and flower, candy and hoagie sales. 

These top 10 volunteers were honored for contributing the most hours of service during 2011:

• Aline Powell of Gibsonia, 246.75 hours
• Marilyn Herbster of Valencia, 189.75 hours
• Loretta Metz of Valencia, 149.5 hours
• Mitzie Lindner of Valencia, 131.75 hours
• Teena Anania of Valencia, 124.5 hours
• Bob Blackmore of Gibsonia, 106.5 hours
• Eleanor McNaugher of Valencia, 88 hours
• John Anania of Valencia, 64 hours
• Bernice Derby of Gibsonia, 63 hours
• Loraine C. Day of Gibsonia, 56 hours

Community residents are sought to join the St. Barnabas Charities Auxiliary. Quarterly meetings provide members with an opportunity for fun and fellowship. Membership dues are $10 per year.
