Pittsburgh Marathon Organizers Add a 10 Miler

The first 10-mile race will will be run in November.

Pittsburgh Marathon organizers are launching the EQT Pittsburgh 10 Miler scheduled for Nov. 3.

Starting in the South Side, the course is similar to the half marathon route in reverse, subtract three miles, and finishes on Liberty Avenue, according to the Tribune Review.

The Pittsburgh Marathon executive director Patrice Matamoros said the 10 miler will work well with the Great Race in September. Then runner can take a break for the holidays, then pick training back up for the marathon or half-marathon.

Organizers hope the 10-mile race will attract runners from outside Pittsburgh, according to the Post-Gazette. They hope to have 3,000 runners participate this year.
