Potholes Fixed by Calling 1-800-FIX-ROAD for State-Maintained Roads

Roads in the Pine-Richland community are maintained by PennDOT, the county, the townships and private owners.

Besides doing a little creative driving to miss it, what do you do to get that thing fixed?

If it is a state-maintained road, PennDOT encourages you to call 1-800-FIX-ROAD, or 1-800-349-7623.

“We want our roadway system to be the best it can be, but with a network of 2,568 miles, we can’t be everywhere at once when sudden problems arise,” District Executive Dan Cessna said. “Motorists can help us keep state roads in good shape by reporting any problems they encounter, especially if it involves a safety concern.”

In Richland Township—Bakerstown Road, Route 910, Route 8 and Hardt Road are maintained by PennDOT. Meridian and Station Hill roads are maintained by the Allegheny County Public Works Department. Township roads are handled by the  Some roads are privately maintained by developers or the homeowners using the road.

In Pine Township—PennDOT maintains Route 910 (also known as Gibsonia Road and Wexford Road), Route 19/Perry Highway, Babcock Boulevard, Bakerstown Road, Franklin Road, Freeport Road, Graham Road, Mars Road, Mars-Valencia Road, Pearce Mill Road, Wallace Road, Warrendale Road, Wexford-Bayne Road.

Allegheny County maintains County Lane, Kummer Road, North Ridge Road, Old Babcock Boulevard, Reynolds Road and Brown Road from Pineview into North Park.

PennDOT said callers are asked to be as specific as possible when providing locations for maintenance concerns.

During the winter months, PennDOT’s customer hotline number is staffed seven days a week 24 hours a day to provide easy customer access to county maintenance offices, according to a PennDOT press release.

The toll-free hotline connects callers directly to their respective county maintenance office (if using a land line). Radio operators in PennDOT’s Allegheny, Beaver and Lawrence county offices are staffing the phones around-the-clock to address customer concerns and alert crews. Customers can use the hotline number for any reason including:

  • ·         Pothole repairs
  • ·         Shoulder drop-offs
  • ·         Roadway conditions (snow and ice)
  • ·         Animal carcass removal
  • ·         Brush, debris and tree removal
  • ·         Drainage concerns
  • ·         Sign issues
  • ·         Other maintenance needs

"Once notified, PennDOT will work expeditiously to address roadway concerns when weather permits; however, winter services remain the primary focus of maintenance crews this time of year," the press release states.
