Great Escape: He Said - She Said Beer and Wine Tasting

Blue Water Tavern hosts Saturday afternoon event that appeals to men and women.

It's tough to drag a beer lover to a wine tasting and vice versa. But everyone will love what's on tap at this weekend.

From 1 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, the Wexford restaurant/bar will feature 12 beers, 6 wines and a large selection of delicious tapas that will match up well with whatever beverage you choose.

Owner Matt Hughes says he wants to give people something fun to do during February when there's not much to do but hate the cold weather.

"We tend to hunker down in the winter, so something like this gives people an opportunity to do something fun, grab a bite to eat, and try some things you haven't tried before," says Hughes.

The beers that will be offered are spring craft beers, and the wines will be three pinot grigios and three sauvignon blancs.

Best of all, one of the goals of this tasting is for the patrons of Blue Water Tavern to help select their spring beverage offerings.  The most popular of the beers and wines will make it onto the spring menu.

Cost for the afternoon is $40 per person and reservations are recommended. Although the tasting lasts all afternoon, Hughes recommends arriving close to the start at 1 p.m., as the idea is for a leisurely afternoon tasting.

It's a great opportunity for beer lovers and wine lovers to beat the winter blues with a little taste of spring.
