Free concert at Hartwood Acres, Three Rivers Arts Festival and Johnny Angel and the Halos make for a busy weekend in our neighborhood.

1. It’s time to check your vital signs! Visit the Pine Community Center Health Fair.

When/Where: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at, 100 Pine Park Drive, Wexford.

Why go: Take advantage of free health screenings, chair massages (Ahh!), fitness classes and more. Experts will be available to answer your health and fitness questions.

2. The boys are back in town – Johnny Angel and the Halos are on stage Saturday at the Kean Theatre.

When/Where: 8 p.m. Saturday at Kean Theatre, 5847 Meridian Road, Gibsonia. If you want to start with dinner, the Kean Theatre offers a package deal that starts with dinner at 6 p.m. at . 

Why go:  Johnny Angel and the Halos are one of the best-known and most-loved Pittsburgh groups around. Join in the fun as the band plays what they call “doo-wop at its best.”

Price: Show only: $34. Dinner and show package: $53.

3. The Three Rivers Arts Festival opens this weekend. For 10 days, enjoy a variety of activities in downtown Pittsburgh.

When/Where: June 3 - June 12. Galleries are open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday, noon to 6 p.m. Sunday. Artists market is open from noon to 8 p.m. daily. Showtimes for performances varies. The arts festival is spread out through downtown Pittsburgh in Point State Park, Hertz Gateway Center and throughout the Cultural District. 

Why go: The Three Rivers Arts Festival is a Pittsburgh tradition. This year, more than 450 artists will be displaying and selling their artwork and 50 bands will be performing. There are also plenty of food vendors and other entertainment.

Price: Free, although you will want to take lots of cash for food, artwork and other goodies.

4. The free concert series starts this weekend at Hartwood Acres with Josh Ritter with David Wax Museum.

When/Where: 7:30 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Hartwood Acres amphitheatre, Middle Road, Allison Park.

Why go: The Allegheny Country Concert series brings outstanding musicians to our neighborhoods for free entertainment. Take the kids, a picnic dinner and blankets and enjoy a wonderful folk-rock concert in the beautiful, outdoor setting.

5. Do ghosts intrigue you? Why not go ghost hunting this weekend?

When/Where: 8:30 to 11:30 p.m. Friday at The Old Stone House, junction of Routes 8, 173 and 528, about 12 miles north of Butler.

Why go: The Old Stone House is partnering with the Center for Paranormal Study and Investigation to determine what types of ghostly creatures might live or visit the 1822 Inn and Tavern.
