Get Out: Musical, Fish Fry, Kean Idol

Music, dancing and singing are big in Pine-Richland this weekend as the Pine-Richland High School musical gets under way and Kean Idol moves closer to the grand finale.

1. the spring musical at , will be performed this weekend. 

When/Where: The senior citizen show is 4 p.m. Thursday in the high school auditorium, 700 Warrendale Road, Gibsonia. Other performances are at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Why go: Pine- Richland High School is well-known for its outstanding, award-winning musicals.

Price: Free for senior citizens on Thursday only. Prices for other performances are $12 for adults; $10 for students, seniors and balcony tickets.

2. Kean Idol Amateur Talent Contest -- the competition gets tougher and tougher.

When/Where: Third and fourth vocal rounds are at 1 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. respectively on Sunday at the Kean Theatre, 5850 Meridian Road, Gibsonia.

Why go: You get amazing entertainment for a bargain price. Besides, who knows, you may see the next !

Price: Tickets are $10 and proceeds benefit the St. Barnabas Free Care Fund.

3. Fish Fry Time. It’s Lent and that means Fridays are Lenten Fish Fry time. Several churches in our area will be hosting dinner this Friday night.

When/Where: 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at ,  201 Church Road, Wexford. 

Why go: You have to eat and who wants to cook? You get good food for a great price.

Price: Dinner is $8.50, a la carte items vary.

4. Another Lenten Fish Fry, this one at St. Alexis Church, 10090 Old Perry Highway, Wexford.

When/Where: 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday. 

Why go: See No. 3.

Price: $5.50 for fish sandwiches; $8 for a fish dinner with your choice of baked or fried fish, hoagie or dinner roll, 2 sides and dessert.

5.  "Shrek the Musical" is now playing at the Benedum Theater.

When/Where: Shows are 8 p.m. Friday; 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday; and 1 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the Benedum Theater, 719 Liberty Avenue, Pittsburgh. 

Why go: It is part of the PNC Broadway Across America series and great fun.

Price: Tickets run $24 to $71 for weekend shows.
