Get Out: Dinner and Show, Jazz and Wedding Dresses

If you got engaged for Valentine's Day, we have a bridezilla event for you.

Was Punxsutawney Phil right and spring is in sight? After what seemed like endless snow and cold, the weather finally warmed up this week. It sure makes us want to get out of the house. What about you? Pine-Richland Patch has the scoop on what's happening around the area.

1. DINNER AND SHOW: Kean Theatre presents Neil Simon's "Rumors" and dinner at any of Atria's Restaurant and Tavern's seven locations. 

Where/When: Kean Theatre and Atria's restaurant. The closest locations for Pine-Richland residents are the  location at 5517 William Flynn Highway or the  restaurant at 12980 Perry Highway.

Dinner and show: Friday and Saturday at 6 p.m. Show only at 8 p.m.

Lunch and show: Sunday at 12:30 p.m. Show only at  2 p.m.

Why Go: We all like to laugh and a Neil Simon play is the way to do it. Just think, dinner and a show without having to drive to downtown Pittsburgh. Sounds easy.

Pricing for show only: $22  on Friday and Saturday. $20 for Sunday matinee.

Pricing for Atria's dinner/Sunday lunch and show: $41 on Friday and Saturday, $39 on Sunday.

2. BRIDAL SHOW WEDDING CLICKERS

Where/When: The Pittsburgh  in Cranberry Township from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.

Why go: If you know a bridezilla, the deals offered at the bridal show may be the only way to calm her. Soon-to-be brides can find dresses, shoes and accessories all under one roof. of Zelienople also will host a "Running for the Gowns!" inside the bridal marketplace featuring gowns marked at half price.

Price: $5

3.  PITTSBURGH CENTER FOR THE ARTS – TEEN OPEN STUDIO

Where/When: The Pittsburgh Center for the Arts, 1047 Shady Avenue, from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday.

Why Go: Because your angsty teen needs a creative outlet. The center offers open studios every Friday for high school students. Teens are free to work on their own projects and at their own pace. The kids can sketch figure models with their own art supplies in the Life Drawing Studio or create in the Media Lab with video, animation, and photography programs. Don’t worry, it’s all monitored!

Price: $8 per night at the door, $5 per night for students currently enrolled in a PCA class or workshop.

4.  SWEETWATER CENTER FOR THE ARTS – CLEARVIEW FEDERAL CREDIT UNION SWEET JAZZ FESTIVAL

Where/When: 200 Broad Street, Sewickley, from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday.

Why Go: If you’ve never been to a club with sweet jazz notes in the air, this is a great way to experience it. Every Friday through February, Sweetwater will fill your ears with the sound of jazzy music. The event also comes with complimentary wine and hors d’oeuvres.

Price: $8 for members if tickets are ordered in advance and $10 on the day of the event. For non-members, tickets are $12 if ordered in advance and $15 on the day of the event. 

5.  ETHNIC FOOD FAIR

Where/When:  on Rochester Road in Cranberry from noon to 8 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.

Why go: Some of us may never get to go to, but that doesn’t mean we can’t experience the food.

Price: The cost of the food. Take-out is available.
