Frugal Family: Winter Clearance and Other Deals

Time to shop and dine for just a few bucks.

A close look at the racks and shelves produced some great bargains on winter clothing. How about 70 cents for kids' stocking hats or gloves? Women's knit hats (one size fits all) or headbands are going for $1.50. If you look closely at the tie rack, you can find ties for $3 and $5. (No, they are not hideously ugly.) Men's Faded Glory long-sleeved knit shirts and sweaters are a mere $5 also.

In honor of Read Across America, all Target stores will have readings from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday. Certain Dr. Seuss books are on sale, two for $10, through March 15. We noticed many books are on sale -- 30 percent off hardcover books and 20 percent off paperbacks.
