Frugal Family: Looking for Deals on Haircuts, Clothes or Shoes?

Check out Target's selection of $1 items as potential gifts to add to your Easter baskets.

Great deals are out there this week for haircuts, vitamins, clothes, shoes and Easter basket non-candy items.

Looking for a haircut? Ladies, your day is Monday when you get $2 off haircuts, making the price $16.95. You can also get $5 off perms and coloring. Gentlemen, come in on Tuesdays and get $2 off haircuts, bringing the price down to $11.95.

The best deals are for the kids’ cuts -- $7.95 all day every Wednesday. To save even more money, bring the youngsters in from 3 to 6 p.m., Mondays through Fridays, and pay $5. Kids through age 11 are eligible.

No appointments are necessary. These deals are valid only at the Northtowne Square location.

For the best deals at GNC, customers should sign up for the free Gold Card to get 20 percent off all their purchases. When you combine the store’s buy-one-get-one-half-off deals with the Gold Card savings, you can reap a savings of up to 40 percent. A particularly good deal now is the popular Vitapak, which provides all the vitamins you need in a day, according to manager Lynn Morris. Using the special deal with the Gold Card brings the Vitapak cost down to about $1 a day, she said.

Ready for a spring wardrobe? But one item in the store at the regular price and a second item costs just $10. Got your eye on a cute dress? All the dresses are $10 off. These specials end Saturday, March 26. Be sure to check out the clearance rack in the back of the store; everything is marked down 50 percent.

With spring in the air, it’s time to think about pulling on your fitness shoes and getting outdoors. Through Saturday, March 26, all fitness shoes are 30 percent off. After that, the store will mark select styles down 40 percent from Sunday, March 27, through April 9. Socks are on sale too – buy one, get one half off. The clearance area in the back of the store features 30 to 70 percent off on shoes and boots.

You are barely inside the store when you get to a display area that has $1 deals on merchandise that is great to add to your children’s Easter baskets. These non-candy items include Sponge Bob sticky notes and magnetic list pads; bouncy balls shaped and decorated like Easter eggs; kids’ socks with Winnie the Pooh, Barbie, Dora the Explorer and Easter egg decorations; small metal pails; 100-piece puzzles; packages of 10 pencils; clipboards; stickers; coloring and activity books; Dry-Erase boards decorated with Disney princesses; soft or cardboard baby books; silly putty; and flip-flops.

Looking for something a little more intellectual? Classic literature – “A Tale of Two Cities,” “Frankenstein” and “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer” – is available in paperback for $2.50.
