Five Things You Need to Know This Week

Patch gives you a rundown of what's going on around the community.

1. Pine Parks & Rec Commission

Get involved in your community. The Pine Township Parks & Recreation Commission meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 9 at the Pine Community Center.

2. Movies in the Park

Attend a free showing of “Space Jam” at dusk, Wednesday, July 10 at Pine Park. Refreshments will be sold at the concession stand. 

An adult must accompany children age 12 and younger. In case of inclement weather, the movie will be shown the following Wednesday.

3. Introduction to the Flute

Children ages 5-10 years of age are invited to the Northern Tier Library in Richland Township to explore the flute and flute playing. Flutist Kathy Blocki will offer a two part class on Thursday, July 11 and Friday, July 12, from 10 to 10:45 a.m.

She will also offer a special evening class on Thursday, July 11 from 6:15 to 7 p.m.

There is no charge for the classes, and flutes will be provided.

Registration is mandatory at 724-449-2665.

4. The Great North Pour Beer Festival

Cabana Bar in Pine will host The Great North Pour Beer Festival from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, July 11.

The event will include games, prizes and giveaways in addition to a variety of beers to sample! Games include the ultimate Beer Pong Tourney. Winner rceives a one week trip for two to Florida.

The $25 ticket cost includes souvenir sampling mug, unlimited beer sampling, pretzel necklace, and a buffet featuring pork (off the spit), grilled chicken skewers, ribs and more. 

5. Pine Richland Football Touchdown Club All In Fundraiser and Smoker

The Pine Richland Football Touchdown Club is hosting the All In Fundraiser and Smoker on Sunday, July 14 from 1-4 p.m. at Jergel's Rhythm Grille in Warrendale.  

The day will include food, refreshments and silent and raffle auction items and a VIP cigar bar.

The featured speakers are Brandon Hunt, pro personnel Coordinator for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Eric Kasperowicz, current head football coach at Pine Richland.

The cost is $100 per person or $125 per couple. Proceeds support the Pine-Richland Football Program.
