Five Things You Need to Know This Week

Patch gives you a rundown of what's going on around the community.

1. St. Barnabas Charitable Golf Open

More than 150 golfers will take to the Butler Country Club golf course Monday, June 3 to raise money for the St. Barnabas Free Care Fund. 

Jim O’Brien, Pittsburgh sports author will sign his book “Hometown Heroes” for each golfer. Bobby Bradley, long drive entertainer, will demonstrate a drive of more than 400 yards on a par 5 hole for each foursome. WPXI-TV’s Darieth Chisolm will emcee the evening program.

The event’s morning field will tee off at 7:45 a.m. The afternoon field will tee off at 12:45 p.m. There also will be 6 p.m. cocktail reception followed by a dinner and awards program at 7 p.m.    

2. Tail Waggin’ Tutors

Tail Waggin’ Tutors is a program that gives children a judgment-free environment in which to practice their reading skills with a therapy dog.

The innovative program takes place from 6 to 7 p.m. Mondays, June 3-17 at the Northern Tier Library. To register, call 724-449-2665.  

3. Tween Art Club

If making art projects is one of your favorite pastimes, then the Tween Art Club is definitely for you. Join Northern Tier Library for some artsy time from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 6 to create fun projects from recycled and new materials.

The program is from those ages 8-12 years. Register by calling 724-449-2665.  

4. Starlite Car Cruise

The Starlite Car Cruise will be held in the parking lot the Northway Way Christian Community Church on Perry Highway in Pine from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. every Friday through Aug. 30.  

5. PR Marching Band Kicks off Kennywood Ticket Fundraiser

Tickets are on sale now for Pine-Richland Day at Kennywood on Aug. 16. 
Ride All Day tickets are available for $28 or after 5 p.m. for $21. 

The sales will benefit the Pine-Richland Marching Band. The tickets are good on Pine-Richland Day or all summer.
