Five Things You Need to Know This Week

1. Pine-Richland School Board Meeting

What’s going on in your child’s school? Find out in person when Pine-Richland officials meet at 7:30 p.m. Monday, June 24, at Pine-Richland High School for the school board’s regular meeting.

2. Movies in the Park

Attend a free showing of “Dr. Seuss' the Lorax” at dusk, Wednesday, June 26 at Pine Park. Refreshments will be sold at the concession stand. An adult must accompany children age 12 and younger. In case of inclement weather, the movie will be shown the following Wednesday.

3. Vacation Church & Bible Camp

St. Alphonsus Parish, located at 201 Church Road, Wexford will hold Summer Rock Fest ’13 from 9 a.m. to noon June 24-28.

The camp is open to all children grades K-6 and features daily faith lessons built on a rock 'n roll theme, as well as puppet shows, pony rides, outdoor games, crafts, music, snacks, and T-shirts.

4. Dinosaurs at Northern Tier Library

Tony Palermo will visit the Northern Tier Library in Richland from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.  Friday, June 28 to share bones, footprints, models, stories and more about dinosaurs. 

This program is open to all ages. Registration is requested at 724-449-2665.

5. Fearless 5K at North Park

The Fearless 5K in honor of Marine Sgt. Joseph Caskey, 24, who was killed in Afghanistan in 2010, begins at 8:30 a.m. at North Park Board House, 303 Pearce Mill Road, Allison Park. 

The cost is $20 for runners who pre-register by Friday, June 28, and $25 for those who register on race day. 

Proceeds from the race benefit the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund, a charity that provides financial assistance to wounded Marines and their families.
