The grand opening of the new Field & Stream store in Cranberry Friday morning attracted a number of customers—and traffic headaches.
Route 19 was backed up in both directions for hours Friday. Cranberry Police began directing traffic at the Cranberry Square shopping center, where the new store is located, at 7 a.m.
One Patch reader reported every parking space within a half mile of the outdoor specialty store, which is owned by Dick’s Sporting Goods, was taken by customers heading to Field & Stream.
With the appearance of popular Duck Dynasty star Willie Robertson, more traffic is expected Saturday.
The bearded CEO of the Louisiana-Based Duck Commander will sign autographs for 600 people from 10:30 to 12:30 p.m. at the store.
Robertson, who shot to fame when Duck Dynasty premiered three seasons ago on the A&E Channel, is expected to attract quite a crowd.
A Patch reader even commented his family planned to leave at midnight Saturday so they could get a prime place in line during Robertson’s appearance.
Robertson isn’t the only celeb to make an appearance at the Cranberry Field & Stream, which is the first of its kind in the nation.
On Sunday, Pittsburgh Penguins Head Coach Dan Bylsma will be at the store from 1 to 3 p.m. He will be joined by the cast of the Outdoor Channel’s Headhunters and others.
