Ash Wednesday Services Listed for Churches in Pine-Richland Area

Christian worshippers across the Pine-Richland area will start the Lenten season today with Ash Wednesday services.

Bakerstown United Methodist

• 7:30 p.m.—Worship service.

Cross Roads Presbyterian

• 7 p.m.—Worship service.

First Presbyterian Church of Bakerstown

• 7:30 p.m.—Worship service. Pastoral meditation, music and ashes. Childcare available. “Piety—What, When, Where and How”. Matthew 6:1-6, 16-21.

Salem United Methodist

• 7:30 p.m.—Communion and imposition of ashes. “Clean Heart and Right Spirit!” Joel 2:1-2,12-17, Psalm 51:1-17 Matthew 6:1-6, 16-21. Liturgist: Mary Sheehan 

St. Alphonsus Catholic

• Ashes will be distributed during Masses at 7 a.m., 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. and during the Liturgy of the Word at 4:30 p.m.

St. Andrew the Apostle Byzantine Catholic

• 7 p.m.—Repentenance service. (No distribution of ashes.)

St. Richard's Catholic

• Distribution of ashes will take place at Mass and Liturgy of the Word services. Mass at 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Liturgy of the Word at 10 a.m. at St. Barnabas Retirement Village, 11 a.m. at St. Barnabas Nursing Home, and noon and 7 p.m. at the church.

St. Thomas Church in-the-Fields

• 7 p.m.—Worship service.

Trinity Evangelical Lutheran

• Noon and 7 p.m.—Holy Eucharist with imposition of ashes. Readings: Isaiah 58:1-12; Psalm 51:1-17; 2 Corinthians 5:20b—6:10; Matthew 6:1-6, 16-21.

Wexford Community Presbyterian

• Evening service.
