The 3rd. annual Team Alex Fund 5K/ 5 Mile Run/Walk will take place on Saturday, April 28 at 9:00 AM and benefits children with spinal cord illness or injury. Six year old Alex Brown, the fund's namesake, is the son of Eric Brown, a teacher at Pine Richland Middle School. The event, coordinated by Pine Richland High School Senior, Brian McWilliams, is expected to draw over 500 participants this year. Join Team Alex for a competitive 5K or 5 Mile run or a casual stroll at North Park. Post race festivities include food and drinks, an awards ceremony, a huge Chinese auction, activities for kids, and Pittsburgh mascot appearances. Log onto: www.teamalexfund.org to sign up or sign up in person on race day beginning at 7:30 AM. Also join us for a donations only spaghetti dinner the night before the race, Friday, April 27 at St. Ferdinand's Parish on Rochester Road in Cranberry Twp. The dinner is sponsored by Pine Richland National Honor Society and will take place from 5-8 PM. All are welcome to join us for one or both events!

More About North Park
North Park is a large community park spanning three townships, including Pine. The park includes activities for nearly everyone - pet lovers can take their dogs for a run in the off-leash fields, children can play in one of many playgrounds, naturalists can visit the nature center and walk down trails, golfers enjoy an 18-hole golf course, and water lovers can fish or boat in the lake. Not to be forgotten, athletes can tone up by running, biking or jogging down one of the many trails with natural scenery.
The park also includes an ice skating rink in the winter and a pool in the summer. There are horseshoe throwing pits, picnic areas, basketball and tennis courts, football and soccer fields, a boathouse with boat rentals, and even a horse showing ring. There are many events throughout the summer, such as concerts in the park and movies. North Park also hosts the Marshall Island Wildfowl Reserve.
