Q: What do you recommend for toy storage?
A: The first choice for many is a toy box. This is a nice option for larger, bulky toys. However, smaller toys and parts of toys can get lost in the bottom of a toy box.
My favorite pick is a shelving unit with baskets or bins. Group like items together in each bin and label (cars, blocks, legos, dolls, etc) This storage solution can make it easy to find a toy, play and clean up. As your kids grow, the baskets can still hold small games and cards and the shelves are great for large board games, puzzles or books.
I also recommend a yearly review of toys. If your child no longer uses a toy, consider donating it. Possible recipients include your church nursery or preschool, the Lighthouse foundation or the Sojourner House. Toy donations benefit children in need and offer your child a lesson in giving.
Using a combination of a toy box, shelving unit and yearly donations should help you manage your toy storage.
