School: Pine-Richland High School

Accomplishment: Winning multiple awards in this year's Regional Scholastic Art Competition. His award-winning artwork was displayed in an exhibit called "Visionary Instincts" at La Roche College's Cantellops Gallery in the Zappala College Center.

Key to Awesomeness: Colin earned one of only five American Vision Best of Show awards in Allegheny County as well as a Gold Key award.

Gold Key winners move on to national competition in New York. In all Budd earned two Gold Key awards, three Silver Key awards and six Honorable Mentions.

"The Alliance for Young Artists & Writers ... identifies teenagers with exceptional artistic and literary talent and brings their remarkable work to a national audience through The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards," according to the alliance's website.

"The awards have an impressive legacy dating back to 1923 and a noteworthy roster of past winners including Andy Warhol, Sylvia Plath, Truman Capote, Richard Avedon, Robert Redford and Joyce Carol Oates."
