Tuesday is Election Day for the citizens of the 40th senatorial district, which was formerly represented by Jane Orie.

Two names are on the ballot to serve out Orie’s term through 2014: Republican Randy Vulakovich and Democrat Dr. Sharon Brown.

Last week businessman Don Bindas announced he is running as a write-in candidate.

All three spoke Tuesday night at a Meet the Candidates event hosted by the Chamber of Commerce in Wexford.

Each candidate gave a statement, then answered an assortment of questions from about 60 people in the audience.

The 40th District encompasses parts of Allegheny and southern Butler counties, including Pine, Richland, Ross and Cranberry townships and West View Borough.
