Kristian Nelson threw a pocketknife at another man, according to police.

A Butler County teen charged with stabbing another man with a pocketknife during a road rage incident on Route 8 in Richland Township is heading to court.

Kristian Nelson, 19, waived a preliminary hearing Wednesday before Magisterial District Judge Suzanne Blaschak.

According to Northern Regional Police, Nelson was the passenger in a car with two other Butler teens who were driving on William Flynn Highway April 10.

All three got into an argument with Chris Baer, who was walking on the highway.

Police Chief Robert Amann said Baer, a 28-year-old from the Bakerstown area of Richland, spit twice at the car's occupants, hitting the gold Honda's windshield—and then striking Nelson.

The car took off, but circled back to where Baer was walking on a side road leading to the Northtowne Square shopping center.

Nelson then threw a pocketknife at Baer, striking him in the stomach, according to police.

While Baer walked over to the nearby King's Family Restaurant to call paramedics, Nelson and the other teens attempted to leave the area.

Within minutes, police, who were already on Route 8 dealing with a traffic stop, were able to catch up with Nelson and the two other occupants of the car near the Lowe's and Target in Northtowne Square.

Nelson is charged with aggravated assault and recklessly endangering another person in the incident. He is scheduled to be formally arraigned May 5 at the Allegheny County Courthouse.
