Supervisor Philip Henry: Don't Take Voting for Granted
Incumbent sees voting as a privilege.
When Supervisor Philip D. Henry stood outside the polling place at Pine-Richland Stadium this morning, he remembered a time years ago that he talked to social studies students on those stadium steps about the importance of voting.
Several social studies classes came to the polling place that day and Henry, a former social studies teacher, said he told them about the township and took them inside the polling place to show them democracy in action.
"I consider it to be a big privilege to be able to vote," he said. "It's something you just don't want to take for granted. In many countries people would fight for the right to vote."
Henry is an incumbent, running unopposed on the Republican ticket for the seat on the Pine Township Board of Supervisors. No Democrats are running for the seat.
He was one of many people interviewed by Pine-Richland Patch today for election coverage. Please keep checking back for more campaign stories and results.
