What happens when a sophisticated Manhattan art gallery couple’s life is turned upside down as mom moves in and takes over?

That's the premise for the comedy Social Security, which will be performed in February at the Kean Theatre in Richland Township.

The Kean Theatre kicks off its 2012 Broadway Series with this classic comedy about art, aging, love and family. The theater is on the St. Barnabas campus at 5847 Meridian Road.

Show time is 8 p.m. Feb. 10-11 and 17-18. Tickets cost $23. 

Theater-goers may also enjoy a 6 p.m. dinner before the show in the Mount Vernon Restaurant, which is in the same building as the Kean Theatre. The cost for dinner and the show is $45. 

There will be Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. Feb. 12 and 19. Tickets are $21. A luncheon will be offered at 12:30 p.m. at the Kean Theatre’s Mount Vernon Restaurant; the price for lunch and the show is $43.

In the Kean Theatre production, Heidi Nicholls of Butler and Tom Bickert of Evans City play the roles of Barbara and David Kahn.

Judy Greene of Wexford plays Sophie Greengrass, and Bob Roberts of Wexford is Maurice Koenig.

Tom Madden, managing and artistic director of the Kean Theatre is the director, and Kristen Scannell is producer.

Proceeds from the Kean Theatre benefit the St. Barnabas Free Care Fund, which in 2011 provided more than $5.2 million to poor and low-income residents at St. Barnabas Nursing Home, Valencia Woods at St. Barnabas and The Arbors at St. Barnabas.
