Snow Expected in Pittsburgh During Tuesday Morning Commute

Less than an inch of snow forecast.

A small snowstorm moving into the Pittsburgh area overnight could cause problems with the Tuesday morning rush-hour commute.

Western Pennsylvania is expected to receive between a half-inch to just under an inch of snow by the time most people are waking up to head to work.

Dennis Sims, a meteorologist at Air Science Consultants in Bridgeville, said light snow is expected to move into the area around 2 a.m. Tuesday and won’t end until just after the morning rush hour.

“It should be just enough to make roads and bridge decks slippery,” Sims said of the Tuesday morning commute. “Just enough to be a pain in the butt.”

He is anticipating less snow the farther north you go and more snow in the south and east.

The temperature is expected to hover around 29 degrees during the early morning snowfall.

Air Science Consultants is a private meteorological company located in Bridgeville that offers forecasts for business clients, including the National Hockey League during last year’s Winter Classic in Pittsburgh.
