A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for western Pennsylvania until 8 p.m.

The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh issued the warning for northwestern Allegheny County, northeastern Beaver County, southwestern Butler County, southern Lawrence County and northeastern Columbiana County in east central Ohio.

The storm is capable of producing quarter-size hail and damaging winds in excess of 60 mph, according to the weather service website.

In addition, continuous cloud-to-ground lightning is occuring with the storm.
