School Board Approves Compensation Plans

Compensation plans covering Act 93 employees and administrative support personnel were unanimously approved at the July 16 meeting.

After approximately a 90 minute executive session break, the Pine-Richland School Board reconvened their combined planning/regular meeting to unanimously pass two district employee compensation plans.

School Board Director Peter Lyons explained the plans saying, "We established a matrix tying compensation and increases in compensation to specific criteria.  We did cap year on year increases at 3 percent."

He reminded everyone present at the meeting that last year the Act 93 employees had a pay freeze. Lyons added that he was happy to be able to tie pay to performance.

The two separate plans, which cover Act 93 employees and administrative support personnel, cover the period July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2015.

There are 19 positions under the Act 93 administrative compensation plan. They include the principals, assistant principals, directors, psychologists, social worker, human resources and employee benefits administrator and the buildings and maintenance coordinator.

There are 11 positions covered under the administrative support personnel compensation plan.

Both plans detail benefits such as vacation and sick leave; health, life and disability insurance; professional memberships; and tuition reimbursement.

The Act 93 employees will pay 7.5% of their medical, dental and prescription drug premium cost for insurance coverage.  The administrative support personnel employees will pay 5% of their health, dental and prescription drug premium cost for insurance coverage.  The remainder percentage amount of both insurance premiums will be paid by the district.  The district also pays vision benefit premiums for both groups.

Act 93 employees can also receive a minimum monthly data plan allowance for a smartphone/internet-enabled mobile device, subject to approval, to enable them to perform their duties.  They may also apply for additional reimbursement for a voice plan or a one-time equipment purchase, also subject to approval.
