Weather Service: Few Inches of Snow to Accumulate by Sunday Morning
National Weather Service issues winter weather advisory.
By the time you get up Sunday morning, there could a few more inches of snow on the ground.
A winter weather advisory for snow is in effect from 10 p.m. Saturday to 6 a.m. Sunday in Allegheny, Butler, Beaver and other parts of western Pennsylvania, according to the National Weather Service.
About 2 to 3 inches of accumulation is forecast, with 4 inches in the heaviest band from Beaver to eastern Westmoreland County, the weather service states.
Hazardous travel conditions are expected because of rapid snow accumulation, snow-covered roads and limited visibility, according to the weather service.
Here's the National Weather Service's forecast for the next few days:
Sunday: Snow showers likely, mainly before 7 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 23. Northwest wind 10 to 17 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
Sunday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 13. West wind 5 to 10 mph.
Washington's Birthday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 42. Light southwest wind becoming south 6 to 11 mph in the morning.
Monday Night: Rain, mainly after 1 a.m. Low around 35. South wind 11 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
Tuesday: Rain, mainly before 11am. High near 40. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
Tuesday Night: A chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 20. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent.
Wednesday: Partly sunny, with a high near 27.
