Memorial Day Service Planned for Monday at Richland Community Park

Service starts with a parade at 10 a.m.

A Memorial Day service to honor those who have died while serving their country will be held Monday at Richland Community Park.

American Legion Post 548 hosts the 10 a.m. service that includes a parade, flag raising, music, poems, a moment of silence and the laying of flowers and wreaths. Dwight Pearson, retired Army, will be the keynote speaker.

Legion Commander Jerry Gogolin said seven of Post 548's members, who passed away during the past year, also will be honored.

A representative from the office of Rep. Mike Turzai, R-Bradford Woods, also is scheduled to appear.

Free hot dogs and soda will be served in the park's pavilion after the service.

Mia Tepper of First Presbyterian Church of Bakerstown will sing The Star-Spangled Banner and children from Richland Youth Foundation Preschool will perform God Bless America.

The Pine-Richland High School band ensemble, under the direction of Brian Scott, also will perform. Trumpeters from the high school will perform "Taps."
