March 27 to Remain In-Service Day for Pine-Richland Students
Students will not have to make up last week’s snow day.
Kids, don’t set your alarm clocks for Wednesday, March 27.
Pine-Richland School District will continue to use that date as an in-service day for teachers—and a day off for students.
The decision was approved by district officials at Monday’s Pine-Richland School Board planning meeting. The district has important training sessions in place for teachers that day, including one on safety, a statement from the district said.
Pine-Richland canceled classes Wednesday, March 6 because of inclement weather. Students will not have to make up the snow day.

I guess my only issue is if the day didn't really work well for a snow day, why have it designated that way in the calendar to begin with? It seems that there isn't really much thought put into the calendar for these snow make-up days (i.e. Martin Luther King Jr Day this year).
In the grand scheme of things, it's not a big deal, but it does reflect on a board's attentiveness to details. Have a good plan to begin with, and you don't have to come back later and say "ignore what it says on the calendar, here's what we're REALLY going to do".
I am glad the students do not have to make the day up. They already go six extra days than the state mandates. PR already gets out of school a week later than most of our neighbors.

The school board, teachers union and the administration decide which days will be made up and when. Perhaps you should attend a school board meeting and learn the facts.

You missed my point, Tom. The published calendar lists March 27 as the snow make-up day. It was determined that if if there is a day that needs to be made up, that's the day they will use. Lo and behold, we have a snow make up day, and the previous plan of action is abandoned. This is the second time in three years the board has abandoned it's pre-approved plan for snow make-ups.
If the teacher in-service is really important, why designate the day as a snow make-up day in the first place? To me, that's just poor planning, and I do not think it is unreasonable for me to expect my elected officials to be thorough in their planning process.
