Jackie Evancho Making History at Heinz

The 11-year-old singing star will be honored at April dinner.

Jackie Evancho fans have known all along that the little girl with the grown-up singing voice is making history.

Now it is official.

The Senator John Heinz History Center is honoring Jackie at its 20th Annual History Makers Award Dinner, just a few days after the Richland native turns 12.

"Five distinguished Pittsburghers will be recognized for their exceptional contributions to the history of Western Pennsylvania, the nation, and the world," the Heinz History Center's website notes.

The annual black-tie benefit dinner will be held at the Westin Convention Center Hotel to honor "outstanding men and women whose achievements, while rooted in Western Pennsylvania, transcend geographical boundaries," according to the website.

Jackie will be honored in the category of arts and letters. 

Also honored will be Stephen Tritch, business and industry; Ronald Davenport, community service; Michael Fisher, government; and Chip Ganassi, sports.

Jackie recently released her first full-length holiday CD,  A year ago, her shorter Christmas EP [extended play] and DVD set went platinum when it was released shortly after her performances on

Though she came in second in the competition on the NBC show, her performances brought her international fame and her career has soared since.

In June she released Dream With Me, a CD that featured duets with Barbra Streisand and Susan Boyle. She made the rounds to promote the CD on , ,  ,  and .

She also released the "Dream With Me in Concert" CD/DVD that featured her performance on 

Jackie has performed with the  at the Benedum Center and recently at Lincoln Center in New York. 

She is scheduled to appear Dec. 15 at Shea's Performing Arts Center in Buffalo, NY; Dec. 17 at Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City, NJ, and Dec. 20 at the Benedum in Pittsburgh. She also will perform in "David Foster & Friends featuring Jackie Evancho" Dec. 29 at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.

Her "Christmas at the Grove" performance in Los Angeles will be broadcast on Thanksgiving. 

Other TV appearances include ABC's The View Dec. 6, CBS's The Talk Dec. 7, NBC's The Tonight Show Dec. 9 and NBC's America Giving Awards Dec. 10.
