Jackie Evancho Performs 'To Believe' at National Prayer Breakfast

Audience filled with leaders and dignitaries from around the world.

UPDATE: Two videos were added to focus on the performances of "To Believe" and "The Lord's Prayer," which Jackie sang toward the end of the breakfast.

Before thousands of leaders and dignitaries from around the world, Jackie Evancho performed a song Thursday morning that calls on people "to believe in a day when hunger and war will pass away."

The 11-year-old from Richland Township sang at the annual National Prayer Breakfast at the Hilton-Washington in the nation's capital, for which President Obama was the keynote speaker.

Her uncle, Matt Evancho, wrote the song, which is on her Dream With Me CD.

“Jesus said that if we had faith as small as a mustard seed, we could move mountains," said Sen Jeff. Sessions, R-Alabama, when he introduced Jackie.

"We experience a similar miracle when we hear the size of the voice that comes out of the relatively small body of our singer, Jackie Evancho. She’s 11. God has given her an extraordinary gift, and we are thrilled she is here to share it with us.”

Dressed in a black blazer, white shirt, ruffled red skirt and white tights, Jackie performed on a small stage off the end of the head table at the breakfast, which the Fellowship Foundation, a non-partisan Christian group, sponsors.

“Wow! Wow! Thank you, Jackie. That was phenomenal,” said Sen. Mark Pryor, D-Arkansas at the end of the song.

Jackie then took her place at the head table with her mother, Lisa Evancho.

When former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi spoke before reading from Scripture, she mentioned Jackie’s singing, and said Vice President Joe Biden said, “Now I know how the angels sound.”

►► Cindy... thanks for a terrific article. Here is a short clip of the humorous introduction of Jackie. Also, Jackie gets a rare opportunity to applaud her Mom while sharing the dais with the President of the United States.

One could not ask for a more perfect choice for Jackie to sing to this audience than "To Believe." In my opinion, this song, written by her uncle Matt Evancho, is one of the most powerful anthems for hope and peace ever written in a world gone so terribly wrong and so in need of a moral compass. Jackie is the embodiment of faith, hope and peace. The world needs to hear Jackie sing this song. It is found on her Certified Gold CD "Dream With Me."

it is truly amazing to think how, in such a short period of time Jackie has become a national treasure to many Americans who see in her and her family everything that is right and good about our country: faith in God, strong family values, and believing that all of your hopes and dreams can and will come true if you work hard and believe in yourself. One could not ask for better representatives for America.

Thanks again Cindy, for your continued support of Jackie. Much appreciated.

Note that CNN streamed the NPB live until the president left. Jackie sang the Lord's Prayer to end the breakfast. She did very well with that presentation also. Before giving the final prayer, the current Heisman Trophy winner mentioned that she (Jackie) had moved some people to tears. CNN carried the scene of President and Michelle Obama stepping over to say goodby to Jackie and her mother as they made their way out.

Jackie !did an amazing performance of a moving song! I'm so proud that she represents what America can bring to the world! She is truly an angel but this revelation is not new news! She, somehow, manages to remain humble and sincere in her appreciation of her gift is a tribute to her and to her parents, Mike and Lisa.

@Lewis, Jackie performed 'To Believe' using pre-recorded music tracks which included the youth choir parts. She usually performs in front of a live orchestra, but uses tracks from time to time as needed. ~WW~

There are great performers of lyrics in song and then, there is Jackie Evancho, Songbird of the Ages. Jackie's voice and expressions reach out and take hold and won't let go until her ambiance, her presentation, has embellished your eyes with tears and your heart with peaceful joy.

I HAVE STORED IN A SPECIAL VIDEO FOLDER ALMOST EVERY SONG THAT JACKIE HAS SUNG, BEGINNING WITH HER I NITIAL PERFORMANCE ON AMERICA HAS TALENT WHICH STUNNED THE AUDIENCE! I HAVE LIKELY REPLAYED HER SINGING SCORES OF TIMES, ALWAYS RECEIVING A BLESSING WHICH NOT ONLY HER TALENT AFFORDS, BUT BUT HER PERSON - HER ENCHANTING INNOCENCE AND HUMILITY - A LOVABLENESS WHICH, I BELIEVE PLAYS ON THE HEART STRINGS OF ALL WHO HAVE AND SHALL HEAR HER! I MIGHT ADD, THAT i HAVE YET TO HEAR HER MAKE EVEN ONE VOCAL MISTAKE - INCREDIBLY HAVING MEMORIZED LYRICS OF SO MANY RENDITIONS!
