I-79 Lane Restrictions Ahead for Bridge Preservation Project

The work is expected to be complete by November.

Motorists traveling on Interstate 79 through Jackson, Muddy Creek and Lancaster townships will be dealing with lane restrictions throughout the rest of the summer and fall.

Work begins Tuesday on five bridges on I-79 North and South that will help extend the life of the bridges and prevent postings or closures due to deterioration of the structures, according to a statement from PennDOT District 10.

The work includes line eradication, new line painting and barrier placement and will require closing the passing lane on I-79 North and South in the areas between Exit 87 (Zelienople) and Exit 91 (Seneca Valley). The lane restrictions will be in place for the next several months.
