The school board has contracted with the Pennsylvania School Board Association for consultation services in the search for a new superintendent, including surveys and focus group discussions.
Pine-Richland residents are being asked to give their opinions Monday at a focus group discussion about hiring a new schools superintendent.
The former superintendent, Dr. Mary Bucci, resigned after the Pine-Richland School Board voted not to renew her contract at the end of June 2013. Assistant Superintendent Dr. David Foley is currently acting as the interim superintendent.
The school board has contracted with the Pennsylvania School Board Association for consultation services in the search for a new superintendent, including surveys and focus group discussions.
A focus group discussion on the superintendent search will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 14, in the Pine-Richland Middle School Auditorium at 100 Logan Road in Gibsonia.
"As part of the board's work in conducting a search for the district's next superintendent, we have asked consultants from the Pennsylvania School Board Association to facilitate a number of focus group sessions," states Peter Lyons, president of the Pine-Richland School Board, in a letter published on the district's website.
"The purpose of these sessions is to gain a deeper understanding of the perceptions and opinions individuals have about the challenges, issues and needs facing the school district," Lyons wrote in the letter.
"To encourage candid and open discussion, the board will not be in attendance but will receive a comprehensive report from our consultants," Lyons states. "All input will be forwarded to the board for consideration without specific names.
