Could It Be? Graham, Pearce Mill Roads in Pine to Reopen Soon
But Bakerstown-Warrendale Road will close.
Graham Road—after three years of closure—is reopening to traffic Saturday morning and so is Pearce Mill Road in Pine Township.
All this activity is just in time for Pennsylvania Turnpike crews to close Bakerstown-Warrendale Road and detour traffic to Graham and Pearce Mill.
The latest closure is needed to remove the bridge that carries the Turnpike over Bakerstown-Warrendale Road, according to the PA Turnpike’s website. Crews also will mill and pave this portion of the road.
Road closures throughout Pine Township over the past few years have been part of the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission’s $113 million, 6.78-mile total-reconstruction and widening project between milepost 31 and 38 which spans Pine, Richland, Marshall and Hampton Townships in Allegheny County, the Turnpike’s website states.
The overall project is scheduled to be completed by the end of this year.
Here’s a timeline of what has and will happen:
August 2009—Graham Road closes between Pearce Mill and English roads so a PA Turnpike bridge can be replaced. A three-mile detour guides motorists to Pearce Mill Road and Bakerstown-Warrendale Road.
The bridge carrying the PA Turnpike over Graham Road was removed and replaced with a new steel-beam structure as part of the Turnpike’s total reconstruction project between mileposts 31 and 38.
August 2009—Old State Road between Whippoorwill Hill Road and Fox Hollow Lane closes so the Turnpike can replace a bridge that carries the Turnpike mainline at milepost 35.3 over Old State Road and to allow for the reconstruction of Old State Road in that vicinity.
June 23, 2012—Old State Road reopens.
June 23, 2012—A portion of Pearce Mill Road between Logan Road and Route 910/Wexford Road closes. Traffic is detoured to Route 910/Wexford Road to Babcock Boulevard to Bakerstown-Warrendale Road. The closure is needed to remove the old bridge that carried the Turnpike over Pearce Mill Road at milepost 33.6.
Aug. 11, 2012—Graham and Pearce Mill roads reopen.
