Today's small businesses know the importance of an online presence ... or do they?

Pine-Richland Patch and North Allegheny Patch are hosting Main Street U, a free event on Nov. 2 designed to teach business owners, nonprofits and other organizations how to improve their connection to the community online.

The event starts at 9 a.m., with registration beginning at 8:30 a.m., at Pine Community Center. Coffee and refreshments will be provided.

Sign up by filling out the form posted above to attend Main Street U.

Business owners can learn about how to take better advantage of social media tools such as Facebook and Twitter, with mini-workshops delivered by Patch staffers on how to use Patch and add your own content to the online conversation.

There will be presentations on social media and its importance, how to use Patch to boost your online presence and more.

Businesses that have already RSVP'd to the event include:

Sell to All Inc., PA Tennis Academy, Sir Pizza-Cranberry, Woof Stop Barkery, Pine Community Center, Wilderness Chiropractic Health and Wellness Center, Jester’s Court Tattoos, Ameriprise, Write-Click Solutions LLC, Pit-Eri Inc., IMS and Salem Preschool.
