First Presbyterian Church of Bakerstown Plans Ash Wednesday Service

Lenten dinners and classes also are scheduled through the end of March.

 

First Presbyterian Church of Bakerstown will hold an Ash Wednesday service that features Pastors Dan Muttart and Karen Anderson, the Praise Band, Chancel Choir and a solo of "The Lord’s Prayer" by Mia Tepper.

The community is invited to the 7:30 p.m. service at the church on the corner of Route 8 and Heckert Road in Bakerstown.

Members of the community also are invited to Wednesday evening Lenten dinners and classes at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m., respectively, on Feb. 29 and March 7, 14, 21 and 28 on the following topics:

  • Adults and Youth — "Historical and Modern Disciples of Christ." Learn about the faith of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Katherine Marshall, C.S. Lewis and Billy Graham.
  • Children in kindergarten through grade 5 — Carnegie Science Center’s Science on the Road will present five weeks of high-energy hands-on activities.
  • Infants to age 4 — Child care from 6:45 to 8 p.m. during Lenten classes

The suggested donation for dinner is $3/person, $5/couple and $1/child. The church asks that you make dinner reservations and child-care requests in advance.
