Work begins Thursday on the $1 million project to improve the intersection of Babcock Boulevard and Warrendale Road near Pine-Richland High School, weather permitting.
PennDOT District 11, in cooperation with the Pine-Richland School District, announced the start date for the project that includes roadway widening, traffic signal installation and resurfacing to improve the intersection and the entrance to the Pine-Richland High School. Overall work will conclude in early 2013.
"PennDOT is not involved in the work; this information is being provided as a public service announcement only," according to the PennDOT announcement. "Contact the school district’s contractor, the Lane Construction Corp., at (412) 838-0251 for more information."
Traffic patterns will change during construction; flag crews will control traffic as needed, the announcement said.

This is about the stupidest place for a stoplight, and at a million dollars we taxpayers are going to have to shell out for. Makes one wonder who makes these ridiculous decisions as to where to stick such things. No wonder people call PennDOT the Pennsylvania Dummies of Transport!
