Local Student Receives Penn State Funding for Undergraduate Summer Research

Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, has awarded Timothy Gaw, of Gibsonia, an undergraduate summer research fellowship. Gaw's study, titled "Investigating Genomics, Host Invasion and Phylogeny of the Endosymbiotic Bacteria Tremblaya Princeps and Moranella Endobia Within the Citrus Mealybug Host Planococcus Citri", will be supervised by Matthew Gruwell.

Penn State Behrend awarded 39 grants, and more than $69,000, to 62 students this summer. The college provides nearly $350,000 each year to support undergraduate research by its students.
